Our History & Community

The name “Proximal Strength” was conceived by owner/founder Jeremy Mhire in 2008. As a graduate of Missouri State University’s Sports Medicine Athletic Training program, a personal trainer/strength & conditioning coach, and accomplished CrossFit competitor, Mhire subscribes wholeheartedly to the concept of “core-to-extremity” aka “proximal-to-distal” and holds strongly to the belief that – in both fitness and life – you can only be as strong in your extremities as you are at your core.


We have an extremely diverse client and member base. In every conceivable way: Young, middle-aged, and old. Physically, ethnically, socially, financially, athletically, and in terms of career paths…You name it. The pursuit of lifelong health, wellness, and fitness is our common ground.
